Consumer Advocacy

The primary responsibilities of the Region 3 Consumer Specialist are to provide for processes for working with individuals participating in behavioral health services as well as professional staff and state administrators within the regional behavioral health system, advocating for participant views, and to achieve meaningful integration of participants in the Nebraska Behavioral Health System.

  • The Consumer Specialist also serves as a spokesperson to the general public and stakeholders on participant initiatives by utilizing lived experience to advocate for voice and choice.
  • The Consumer Specialist helps facilitate a Coalition of Consumers and family members (Community Advocates Coalition) to create opportunities for education and advocacy and to advise Region 3 on matters pertaining to behavioral health.
  • Region 3 supports the training and sustainability of Peer Specialists to advocate for and support individuals participating in behavioral health services
